Enhance Measurement Accuracy with Wide-Angle Lenses

Westboro Photonics’ Distortion Correction Assistant (DCA) is a software tool that automatically straightens curved lines and removes optical distortion caused by lenses. Once a correction is saved, it is applied to future images with the same lens settings, streamlining post-processing.

The DCA package corrects common distortions like barrel and pincushion distortion, as well as perspective and filter registration.

Improved Measurement Consistency

By correcting distortion, the DCA ensures vertical and horizontal lines remain true to their real-world perspective, especially at the edges of flat panel displays. While Photometrica can analyze irregular sources, some users prefer a focus on rectilinear detection. With distortion correction, users can more accurately define the active regions of displays.

The DCA package allows custom corrections for any lens, focus distance, or lens setting, improving measurement repeatability and ensuring consistent results.

Streamlined Workflow

The DCA package uses a control pattern with evenly spaced points to guide measurements for each tristimulus filter. Photometrica’s tools automatically detect these points and save the correction. Users can choose to apply the correction manually or automatically during post-processing, or fully automate the process using Photometrica’s Software Development Kit (SDK).
